Prayers are requested for those affected by the damage in upper and lower northern Michigan caused by the recent ice storm. What happened?

  • Northern Michigan got hit with a major ice storm this past weekend, leaving ice-covered trees and power lines throughout
  • Thousands are still without power as crews continuously work to fix the damage through the grueling weather
  • It is now going on day six and while the weather is warmer today, it has been in the 30s and 20s
  • Many people are trying to find a way to stay warm
  • Others are trying to find a way to cook food
  • Still others are trying to find a comfortable place to sleep and take care of everyday needs
  • Schools are closed because of a lack of heat and water availability
  • Many main roads are still impassable because of trees blocking the roads
  • A state of emergency related to the ice storm has been called for 10 counties: Otsego, Oscoda, Montmorency, Presque Isle, Emmet, Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Crawford, Mackinac and Alpena
