Hungry?

What’s your favorite food? Ice cream, burgers, or pizza? Some people in countries such as Africa experience daily challenges in getting enough food to eat. Time magazine covered the topic of eating insects as a solution to food insecurity. A few experts claim:

  • insects are a cheap source of food
  • 2/3rds of those living in Madagascar eat insects
  • insects are high in protein
  • crickets are farmed in Canada for human consumption
  • others do not think insects are safe food

Homeschoolers: sketch/color an illustration. Theme: food. Read “Mr. Jeremy Fisher” in Learning to Read: Fairy Tale Adventures. Discuss what Jeremy ate for dinner. Write about your favorite food. List what can be done to help those who do not have enough food to eat. (Skillset: verbal, comparison, opinion, analytical)
