On Labor Day some of us labor while others just plain chill! We have fun, we celebrate, and we give thanks. We give thanks to –
- the early Labor Unions that set up guidelines to protect our safety
- the doctors and nurses that help the sick
- the firemen and police officers that protect our streets and homes
- our family members that work so hard
- our friends and others who just do their best to preserve our liberty
- those who labor to protect everyone’s opportunity to make their own choices
Teachers/Parents/Educators: Sketch an illustration and color it. Theme: labor. Read the book story “The Frog Prince” in Learning to Read: Fairy Tale Adventures. Put these words in alphabetical order: frog, prince, favorite, princess, king, prince, gold, ball, labor. Describe how the frog prince labored to become himself again. Write the definition for the word “labor” and use in a sentence. Imagine you were turned into a frog for a day. Write where you would go and what you would do. (Skills: identify, comprehend, apply, creativity.)
