Schools out, vacations started, and no more homework! Right? Let’s tackle loss of reading skills with fun reading during the summertime. We all know the same old story…When school’s out for summer, kids don’t stay at the same level of proficiency in subjects like reading and spelling. Due to a phenomenon known as summer learning loss, students can forget about two months worth of material over summer vacation. What’s the solution? Read, read, read! Here’s our initial list –

 

Learning to Read: Favorite Fairy Tales       Learning to Read: Fairy Tale Adventures

Learning to Read: New Testament Stories

Homeschoolers/Teachers/Parents: Sketch/color a fun illustration for each story. Pick a book and read. Keep a reading journal (date, name of story, one sentence summary, illustration).
