Word of the Day – ‘Electoral College’

Do you know the definition for the New Word of the Day, which is “Electoral College”?

Pronounced: [əˈlekt(ə)rəl  [ˈkälij]

Article II, Section 1, Clause 2 provides that each state shall appoint electors selected in a manner determined by its legislature.

There are currently 538 electors in the Electoral College.

An absolute majority of electoral votes—270 or more—is required for the college to elect the president and vice president.

On December 14, 2020

the electors in each state will meet in their respective states casting one ballot for President and
one for Vice President.
