Monday, January 15th, 2023 is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Below is an excerpt from the “I Have a Dream” speech, delivered on Aug. 28, 1963, on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C.

• We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence.
• So even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.
• I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.
