Let’s tackle loss of reading skills with fun reading books! We all know the same old story…When school’s out for summer, kids don’t stay at the same level of proficiency in subjects like reading and spelling. Due to a phenomenon known as summer learning loss, students need to improve reading skills. What’s the solution? Read, read, read! Here’s our initial list –
Learning to Read: Favorite Fairy Tales
Learning to Read: Fairy Tale Adventures
Learning to Read: New Testament Stories
Homeschoolers/Teachers/Parents: Sketch/color a fun illustration. Choose a book and begin reading. Keep a daily 15 minute reading journal: date, name of story, one sentence summary, illustration. Tell someone what you read. (Skills: identification, high interest, comprehension, application, verbal, creativity)
