Happy D.E.A.R. Day!  D.E.A.R. Day is celebrated every year on April 12th. On this day, families are encouraged to take 15 plus minutes to put aside all distractions and have fun reading books together. What will you be reading today? Here are some good tips. Read your favorite animal story in Learning to Read: Fairy Tale Adventures. Then complete your reading success activity by choosing from one or more of these options –

  • Write down the name of your favorite animal and tell someone how he talks, moves, and eats
  • Describe the story in three sentences
  • Change the ending of the story
  • Sketch/color a picture of the story
  • Read parts of the story aloud with a friend
  • Pretend to be that animal for awhile

Parents/Teachers/Homeschoolers: Sketch/color an illustration. Theme: R.E.A.D. Listen to an exciting audiobook story in Learning to Read: Fairy Tale Adventures. Write about what you already know about your favorite animal. Put these words in alphabetical order: bunny, frog, chicken, duck, pig, raven, fish, goat, kitten, mice, rabbit, alligator. (Skills: identify, comprehend, apply, application, appreciation, listening skills, creativity)
